It's called doubt. Back in his prime, he absolutely believed he was invincible. Ever since his crash, he's allowed doubt to creep in. Those little blemishes he used to be able to ignore now probably seem like insurmountable problems to him right now.

Before if he hit a bad shot or missed a putt, it would be the spark that lit a fire under his arse. Now when it happens, he starts to think,"Oh shite, here it comes," like a normal golfer.

I have been saying this about his MENTAL edge he had over other players since he tried to come back the 1st time. And I got bashed for it. I still don't believe he will EVER get the TIGER factor back. The other golfers are just NOT intimidated by him any more.

I think that is right - being a narcissist is kinda a positive attribute to have for a world class athlete. A sense of entitlement or superiority compared to others could make it easier for you to mentally dominate them
