I know several of you would prefer Mizzou over WVU, and that’s understandable. They would be a great addition to the SEC. I know its bias thinking, but they seem to have a love fest for the big10 and I know for a fact the entire state of WV has no other on their mind. We want it bad! The entire state understands the honor and prestige that comes with being a member of the SEC, because we watch college football, the entire state is rabid college football fans. We would cherish the invite and would except the invite as an honor and do everything possible to get to SEC standards. We may not be an SEC program now, but I assure you this program would not settle for bottom tear. We have no NFL team, we understand the hillbilly jokes, we understand we are from a poor state and that makes us who we are, WVU is all we have and intern that makes us rabid college football fans, so we understand the magnitude of becoming part of your tradition. All 1.8 million of understand that. Although our state is small, we have ranked #13 and #16 in the country in team apparel sales over the past two seasons. That is all you see driving through this state, is WVU. I know all about the SEC growing up in Florida and I have the up most respect and agree there is no question of a doubt that it is by far the best conference in America. Anyone program in the country should be honored just being mentioned.

I was amazed how well you guys travel, you had a great turn out in Morgantown. I tail gated with several extremely cool LSU fans. By the time we left our tail gate we already spent hours with several LSU fans. We really had a great time with them and they represented your program well and talked highly of your program in which they should.

I know there are several SEC schools that trump us in attendance, but check this video out LINK , 62,000 and would most likely grow to 75,000 if we joined the SEC….Passion.

Pfft.

This is an electrifying atmosphere.

Watch it on 1080p or it doesn't count.

too far, too hard to get to, and no TV sets.

besides, you would kick a lot of SEC butt in hoops.

I campaigned in Morgantown, in a presidential primary.
it was so cold.....

Holy shite. Whoever coined this term needs to die in a fricking fire. If I read it one more time I'm gonna go ballistic. It just sounds so stupid.

I wish WVU was joining. It would be a great two sport rivalry.

Brah, WVU's head coach just gave the best reason of all why WVU doesn't belong in the SEC.

quote:

WVU head football coach Dana Holgorsen isn't mincing words. He's not happy with last Saturday's turnout for the WVU vs. Bowling Green game at Mountaineer Field.

A crowd of about 46,000 showed up in the chilly, rainy weather to watch the Mountaineers defeat the Falcons 55-10. Holgorsen says that's not good enough.

"You only get 7 opportunities a year. What's so hard about it? Is it too cold? It wasn't too cold for our players. It wasn't too cold for our coaches or managers or trainers. They were out there. So why did we have 20,000 people less at this [game] than last week?"

The comments came during a weekly press conference on Tuesday.

Holgorsen says he was expecting another sold out crowd like the one for the September 24th home game against LSU. Sixty-thousand is a capacity crowd. Holgorsen says the fans aren't living up to what he was promised.

"All I heard about was how much this meant to everyone across the state of West Virginia. 'This was the NFL team here in town and we're going to be there to support you.' Well, having 40,000 people at a game isn't doing that."

Holgorsen said Mountaineer fans need to be more like LSU where they fill their stadium every game, no matter what.

"LSU played well in front of 62,000 of our people and then turned around and went home and played a 1-4 Kentucky team at noon and had 95,000 people. You want to talk about an elite program, that's one. I don't know about this one."

Star City.

I have nothing against WVU. I really don't. I hope and want the Mountaineers to come out of all this in a good position. Maybe if the SEC eventually goes to 16, 18 or 20 you will join us. I have no problem with that whatsoever.

But you must look at it from our perspective. Sure WVU has great football and basketball. What else? Anything?

Morgantown is virtually a bedroom community of Pittsburgh, sparsely populated state with no high school football talent (check your roster) and it is hell and gone from all other SEC schools.

I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. I'm really not. I'm just stating the facts as I see them.

I wish you the very best my friend. But as it stands I just don't see WVU to the SEC as happening.

I could see a two sport rivalry with WVU and UK, we would bring fans due to the proximity.

I would welcome WVU. I think they most closely fit the SEC mold of all the likely candidates.

WVU has everything going for it as far as an SEC invite goes except TV sets. The athletic programs are pretty good, great fanbase, and the culture fits, but expansion isn't about adding schools like the SEC, it's about money. And simply, WVU doesn't add the kind of money (because it doesn't add many TV sets) that Mizzou can. That's the bottom line.

Any uk fan should have no say in this, football pays the bills, mizzou has more to offer the sec in terms of tv dollars, it adds another aau college, improves recruiting for the sec and its another chance to kick texas in the balls for being a douche
