I personally wish we had prepped Mett for starting this season, and still think he is the best QB of the three.
This is who I said should have been the starter since March...

Then why do you insist on spending so much time tearing down his performances
I've written critically about him 2 times this year, after Oregon and after Kentucky. Because he didn't play all that well in either of those games.
When Rueben Randle plays poorly, he deserves criticism. Jarrett Lee is no exception.
quote:
all the while anointing yourself as the QB-critique extraordinaire on here
I never said anything of the sort. I offered my analysis of the play. Plenty of people do that on here.
quote:
Why don't you just STFU and enjoy the fact that until this week, our offense actually looked like it had an identity and some continuity?
I can enjoy the offense and critique it. Not mutually exclusive things.

Several other people pointed out that you showed your arse with that pass by pass "breakdown" you generously offered after we blew the Ducks out of Jerry's World. Don't come in here and act like your gazillion posts make you a God, or expect me to worship you because you post more. Don't work that way buddy.
It's kinda sad this is your perception of a message board.
I don't even look at people's post counts really. I could care less. I don't expect anyone to respect me because I have 25,000 posts. It seems you are more obsessed with that than me.
You seem to blow most everything I say out of proportion, including your perception of how you think I want to be perceived.

Anyhow, I'm tired of doing the round and round with you. So I'm off. I'm sure you'll diss me for 10 more posts and I'll never see it, but I don't really care.

I only took regular season. I figured it fair considering we are cherry picking at this point.
You would expect that taking only the best five games would yield a heavy favor, but it doesn't.

Uhhhh what?
5 highest scoring games last year:
ULM - 51
Ole Miss - 43
A&M - 41
Florida - 33
McNeese - 32
= 200 points or 40 ppg
This year 190 points or 38 ppg
So in our best 5 games last season, 2 of which came against McNeese State and ULM, 3 home games and 2 road games that is the same as 4 games versus BCS competition?
That 2 ppg is not significant by the way. 1 Standard deviation is nearly 8 points.

It yields a 2 ppg difference, which is basically nothing. Especially seeing as we haven't faced a defense as bad as Ole Miss' from last years yet.
Scoring defenses in 2010 for those teams:
Ole Miss = 107
ULM = 97
McNeese State = UR FCS
UF = 29
A&M = 34
Average = 67
Scoring for defenses in 2011 teams:
Oregon = 59
NWLA = UR FCS
MSU = 51
WVU = 46
UK = 60
Average = 54
So we are scoring about the same against better defenses.

Uh, oh. Gotcha now-just trying to show how much cred you deserve with all the pick apart every pimple JL has threads.
But I Don't Pay Attention to Post Counts?
And I obsess?
Actually, when you started with your attempts to tear down JL (poorly, I might add) the entire week after he started on short notice and helped beat the #3 team in the country, on the road, I was just trying to remember if you offered your thoughtful criticisms of our QB play last year. If not, since you were obviously around then, one might suspect you have an agenda, since by most other accounts, our offense looks better than it has since 2007. But, I guess all the other people saying that are also Billy Bob morons just like me, and obviously don't have your vast knowledge of football. Post a couple of times where you critiqued JJ through those disastrous games last year and show me I'm wrong. Otherwise, you might as well quit pretending and join the other more open JJ crowd.

What is the comparison of penatlties per game against our 10 and 11 offensive units?
How is the net yardage affected by the offensive penatlite?
It seems like we lost a lot of yard on penatlies related to an inability to get a play off on time, or confusion about what we were running and what perssonel were suppose to be on the field.

I will look at that, that would offer a reason as to why yardage was similar yet drives were terribly executed in 2010.

Average margin of victory after 5 games:
2011: 25.2
2010: 12
That's the biggest difference. When you are up in the second half and you throw the ball 3 times like yesterday...its hard to get passing yards.

total yards are irrelevant
how do you not understand that?
SCORING offense ranked 19th
^ that is what matters
FWIW, it was 70th last season will JJ at the helm the majority of the time

Not me. I think all changes made to the offense since last year seem to have been for the better. That's personnel, coaching, play calling, etc.

ok, I was bored during the Green Bay game so I dug through this...I took the first 4 games this year (didn't include NWST), the first 4 last year, and the last 4 last year (minus ULM).
Here are the key factors affecting this year...
2011
TD's - 15
FG's - 6
Turnovers - 2
Off. Penalties - 7
2010 First Four
TD's - 9
FG's - 9
Turnovers - 9
Off. Penalties - 15
2010 Last Four
TD's - 14
FG's - 11
Turnovers - 6
Off. Penalties - 13
Starting Field Position
2011 - 38
2010 First Four - 43
2010 Last Four - 38
And one last stat, percent actual yards gained to potential yards (sum of all starting positions to goal line)
2011 - 41.3%
2010 First Four - 43.8%
2010 Last Four - 50.1%
Basically the differences boil down to a reduction in mistakes which leads to a much better TD/FG ratio. IMO, most of this is due to the OC change and playcalling philosophy, much more than any player change.

Yards are skewed due to field position and all the turnovers LSU has caused.
Average Starting Field Possession in 2011: LSU 31.72 Yd line
Average Starting Field Possession in 2010 (through 5 games): LSU 35.15 Yd Line
But of course, I agree that the offense is way better with Lee QBing.

Thanks for the research Fore.
The percentage of yards available that were gained is neat. I would have lost that bet.
Good info, suprising to me.

I'd have really thought that this yr's team would have had a better avg starting field position. interesting.
