You will just have to start using first names. Mike the Tiger, Truman the Tiger, and I don't know if Auburn's tiger has a name. We can just call them the Eagles and be down to two tigers.

According to the article, it looks like only 3 teams are in contention.

"Possibilities of a 14th member include the Big 12's Missouri and West Virginia or Louisville of the Big East"

thats their guess. He doesnt quote anybody on that.

WVU and Louisville have a 27 month wait. SEC cant do 2 seasons at 13. That would cost more then 20 million in lost revenue.

Louisville isnt getting in anyways though due to academics and being in an existing sec state.

WVU is hundred times better get then Louisville. If its UL i will flip my shite. I dont want WVU and will be upset but not mad. If its UL i will be pissed.

If they want to go that route go get Clemson or FSU. frick UL.

If this shite is true Im about to jump on the WVU bandwagon big time. Im getting pissed just thinking it could be UL.

Either of. I was on the Mizzou bandwagon over a year ago though. I think its a sleeping program and inclusion to the SEC can help wake it.

Not for football. They don't have a great recruiting base and don't know if they'll ever spend enough to be a "giant." Columbia is a pretty cool town and they love to have a good time there; I just don't think they will ever be an upper tier football program.

I'll bet he wasn't actually "lying." I'll bet there has been all sorts of "informal discussions" and "we'll do this if you do that" scenarios floated.

But I'll bet a "formal" application has not been submitted and a "formal" invitation has not been sent. You can damn well bet that before either of those things happen, the outcome is already settled.

they have the money to do so unlike WVU. they also have a better recruiting base then WVU. Right now though WVU>>>UM in most years because WVU has a more demanding fan base.

UM is a sleeping giant though. They are in a large populous state( yes I know not a huge football hotbed), they are close to the furtile chicago recruiting grounds, recruit texas hard.

WVU on the other hand also has the extremely furtile recruiting grounds of Penn and Maryland that they could start making impacts in if they join the SEC.

Overall though IMO UM has a chance to be great, I don't feel WVU has the ability to be much more then they are now.

To me though the bottomline is....which program, if added to the current SEC, will make the most money for the school I love, LSU? Now and in the future. When I phrase it like that, its hard for me to like WVU as an addition. And thats why I have been so again WVU from the begining. But all that being said I could live with WVU, I just wouldn't think SLive made the best decision.

Now UL on the other hand I couldn't live with. I would flip my shite. Doesn't matter though as I have been reading that Petino is one of the main players in this and he is very much against leaving the big east because he wants access to the NYC market. But he could live with a big 12-3+5 if the 14 included current teams plus Cincy, UL, WVU because of the strength the conference would have in basketball.

Also I still believe the handshake schools would block that move. If they were't then we would be going after FSU/clemson etc.

The ESPN article quotes the Tenn AD as saying that the SEC schools will have a lot to discuss in the coming weeks, perhaps months, re: which 14th addition would be best, and all. Meanwhile, it would seem that Mizzou will have to make its decision to bolt, or not, in the next week or so, or risk being locked into the Big 12 for another 5/6 years with the tender of its main media rights, and there is also the rumor that WVU could go to Big 12 in near future. Very confusing.

Exactly. That tweet doesn't really tell the whole story.

The actualy wording from the SI story is
quote:

ennessee athletic director Dave Hart says the Southeastern Conference will expand again and officials at each school need to have a number of frank discussions before moving forward.

Hart says the addition of Texas A&M as the SEC's 13th team was a good one, but the league's leaders must take their next steps deliberately because the SEC will expand again. He says those conversations will take place "in short order."
I take that to mean that conversations will take place in short order so all of the league's higherups know what is going on before they even start thinking about who to invite. Things like what schools move, if any. Do you keep perm cross division oppenets, etc.

Leave it to Tennessee to frick everything up. When Slive says keep everything on the low down, what part "keep everything on the low down" did they not get.
