How is Mandeville this year? I know this is the big rivalry, but I don't know how competitive it will get

9-5A (the teams I bolded) are all undefeated going into week 5...

"Never before in the history of prep football in New Orleans has an entire district entered the halfway point of the season with unblemished records." - Ron Brocato this week in the Clarion Herald

calpreps.com computer ratings have the artists formerly known as the Catholic League as the toughest district in the state and the 35th toughest in the nation out of 2,124

here are the remaining non-district games in the quest for 29-0 remaining for these teams and their state calpreps ratings

Jesuit (14)- John Ehret (171), Franklinton (68)
Brother Martin (23)- Higgins (35), Greensboro, AL (189 in AL)
Rummel (15)- Holy Cross (126), Thibodaux (94)
West Jefferson (27)- Hammond (156), Slidell (88)
Chalmette (40)- Warren Easton (78), Miller McCoy (174)

EDIT- Brother Martin loses to Higgins Thursday night 14-10 to end the quest for 29-0

Chalemette's opponents are a combined 2-14

0 teams in the state championship this year. Maybe 1 in the Semi's. I hate to be the one to sh*t in your cheerios but really that district is way over-rated.The top 2 teams in 1-5A, 2-5A, or 3-5A would rape your district head 2 head. Acadiana is 3-1 against teams that are 11-5 combined, had the #1 team on the metro poll beat and is probably 3rd best in district behind barbe and carencro. Just keepin it real.

But really, enjoy it. It really is a momentous occasion for that district. 5 undefeated teams, wow. Thats really good. We'll see how they do in the playoffs. Rummel is legit. The others, meh

(spell it right)

let's dig deeper

Lakeshore lost to us by 1, Covington by 21-6, and Slidell by 36-31. they also lost to Fontainebleau 49-7 which makes me go WTF?

Holy Cross isn't usually 0-4, and their only really bad loss was 37-0 to Jesuit. their other losses were by 7 in double OT they were 4 seconds away from winning, by 3 to us when they could have won on the last play, and by 3 to Shaw

Northshore got the two wins by beating Salmen, which usually never happens, rebuilding year or not, and Ponchatoula for their only loss, with the great Hank Tierney there

now I'll give you Berwick. that was a waste of time but we put it in God mode which is what we're supposed to do there

the teams that can win 5A IMO are Byrd, Carencro, Acadiana, St. Paul's, and if I had to pick 1 from my district, Jesuit. that team doesn't make mistakes, which is what you need in the playoffs.

St. Paul's W over Karr looks worse and worse every week, and I'm concerned about Carencro in a close game, so they're going to have to out-talent everyone (Clean knows his talent though). Westgate needs to win in the regular season for me to take them seriously. Rummel will lose in the quarters because they'll run into somebody better.

As for us, we'll have 5 teams in the second round (even Chalmette, I said it ), 3 in the quarters, and Jesuit after that IMO

The way things are looking for the Bears getting 2 wins this season might be hard. It's not like Catholic is a bad team. Their schedule certainly does not favor an average ball club.
