I have been collecting auto's since the 1960's and have many very hard to find LSU autographs including 2 players form the 1st LSU team. I also have copies of all the 1908 team autographs to place in the book.

Autograph collecting has been part of sports since the late 1860's and before that when talking stage acting.

Selling autographs be it LSU players to which ever field you care to name has gone on since way before all of us were born.

Greg has a great collection, as do many LSU fans. The LSU sports muesum was started because of one of the great collectors of LSU items. He collected some autographs of players also.

LSU has a fan day for all to take pictures and get autographs.

There will always be users in any field, and always buyers. LSU collecting has gone though the roof in the last 12 years. I was offered in 1983 all the 1958 home programs with tickets for $70, today you will not touch that price. Many buy and get autoraghs today just to sell later. There is nothing that can be done on thse lines.
