Per 2003 USC, the AP poll matters!

It is, but ESPN uses it until BCS is released.

It is worthless because it doesn't factor into the BCS. It is still nice to be recognized.

Because the coaches refuse to respect Les Miles. AP is unbiased!

It is old & yes it still matters. Don't act like we don't display our AP Trophy from 2007.

If you dont like the opportunity to be ranked #1 you should start pulling for Tulane or ULL or LA Tech!

Other wise grow up and realize this comes with the territory!

A brain dead screwdriver could look at who the pollsters are and figure out it matters.

I wouldn't say the AP is completely worthless. I suspect not all voters in the polls within the BCS formula do much homework... so it's quite possible that voters may be lazy and can be "swayed" by rankings in other polls like the AP. I'm sure the results of the AP poll can sway, even minutely, the voters in the Harris poll.

It's called the human factor, and you are crazy if you think other polls and opinions don't have any effect at all on the "supposed" important polls. Lot of times the coaches don't even vote in the coaches poll. They have assistants do it. Maybe the assistants are too lazy or couldn't care that much and just go by another poll to make their picks. Maybe that poll they use as their guide is the AP poll. You just don't know... but to say the AP poll has no effect on anything is laughable.
