Nice job to alienate the neighborhood around you:

quote:

Citing "the worst location in Baton Rouge," Greg Brandt has closed the French restaurant he and his wife, Paula, have operated at 3786 Government St. for the past eight years.

frick that guy. Just because he couldn't run a successful business in that neighborhood doesn't mean it's "the worst location in Baton Rouge." I use to live right behind Brandts and I now live two blocks away. This guy is crazy.

My coworker just said that Greg Brandt is going through some personal stuff right now that might be affecting his business and attitude.

Not even close to true. I lived just down the street from Brandt's on Steele Blvd. until very recently and the place was always packed. I know he's been pissy about that old building across the street for a while, but it doesn't seem to have affected business.

Fellas, that corridor must make all it's dinero for great chefs in the lunch hour, don't blame Brandt.

Govt St has seen Larry Masciaz Maci's go(former CIA trained chef under Charles Brandt..I worked there for a while)..

Vasken pulled the plug on Serop's home base and elegant Govt St digs, after a glorious era where he had one of the few BR places ever that drew Orleanians to Rouge to dine(re: The Original Village, Del Lago, etc..)..

Giamanco's, it also like Serops hiring Sheriffs to work nights in the parking lots for the last decade-plus before shuttering up and selling..

Phil's Oyster Bar/Opie's..

Vasken's protege's Chicago, then was later that Northshore outpost that served the Shepherd's Pie, etc..forget the name..now Does..

Whether you guys want to label all Rougeans scaredy-cats for not wanting to walk to their cars on Govt St after dark(Not me..I don't mind..used to live in Garden District)..

Don't act like the helicopter doesn't fly over nightly, nor the Rite-Aid and Walgreen's at Govt St need to have fulltime night security, and not just the occasional cop car around like their Coursey and Essen locations.
