I certainly understand that the SEC is at least going to 14, but could staying at 13 even work?

I am leaning towards believing this is the direction we are going. I think there will be another round of expansion in the next few years. Several conferences could implode, leaving us with better choices than Missouri and West Virginia.

The Big 10 stayed at 11 for a long time.

It could work and it would be interesting to see how they did it. I don't think they would stay at 13 long though.

apples and oranges. the big 10 didnt have a conference game when at 11.

i dont see 13 being a long term figure, but it could work for a couple of years

That's all I'm saying. Until the next round of expansion, like when Oklahoma gets sick of being in the Pac 12.

Definitely! 3 divisions of 4, 4 and 5 teams. Then a 4 team playoff with three division winners plus one team with the best 2nd place record. This gives the conference the best 4 teams playing the conferense championship.

The SEC needs to not focus on 16 so much as adding the best teams for the SEC and if that means 13 then so be it.

none of that is happening

the current arrangement at 13 would have all normal members currently playing the 5/3 split of conference games and aTm playing a 4/4 split.

aTm would be considered a "west" team for CCG purposes

Isn't the purpose of this realignmentto have 4 teams playing for the conference championship? More TV money?

I have to disagree, money and greed is driving this train.

good grief man. of course money is driving this but at NO time was a "conference semi final game" ever thrown about.

hell even in the pac16 they were talking about 4, 4 team pods and the best records going to the CCG... the 2 best records.
