I am not trying to answer "WHAT MAKES SENSE".
I am going to give you my perception of what I expect:

If JJ is really ever reinstated, then I would bet you anything he sees the field in short yardage situations, both inside the 5 and on 4th and 1.

Other than that JL is going to start until he messes up.

And if its late in the season before JJ is reinstated, JJ may also be #3, behind Mett - if/when JJ returns. That is, if Mett gets to replace JL due to some minor injury or just gets reps due to LSU being up by a zillion in some games, and if Mett does well, then, because Mett is a pure passer and JJ is not, Mett will move up to #2 and maybe even move up to #1.

And regardless of whether JL or Mett is #1 when/if JJ is reinstated, JJ is not starting unless the #1 does not get the job done on the field (due to chemistry and also the pure fact that JJ would not have been in the mess he is in if he had not made at least one mistake that night, being out of bed at 2 AM.
I could see JJ getting playing time in short yardage vs Bama.

Now.... we shall see.

The qb may or may not be the main reason why an offense struggles depending on the qb and the team.

One thing is a definite though. A bad qb almost always is on a bad offense. There are very few good qb's leading bad offenses because the qb position is so important.

Bottom line. Statistics compared from this year to last year mean nothing. I care about wins and JJ proved it last year. Be a man and take your licks if JL falls on his face against WV and or Bama. One thing is for sure, JJ was the starting QB last year and beat both.

It is comments like this that make anything you say irrelevant. As you actually want JL for fall on his face and LSU lose to prove whom is better. You my friend are not a fan of the school but the players.

The offense looks better and more insync this year than it has in the last 2 years. Is it JL is it the Coordinator. WHO CARES??? It is working and until it doesn't work, there will be no changes.

I may not always agree with the coach's decisions and who they put in but will never pull for a player to fall on his face......

You can have your own opinion, but you can't have your own facts.
The "facts" are that none of Jefferson's last three games were the first three games of a season, none of them were against a top 5 team, and the result of Jefferson's last 3 games was a 2-1 record as compared with the 3-0 record of Lee's last three games. You are cherry picking your games and stats (overall offense vs. specific qb stats, bowl game vs. regular season games, etc.) with an unsubstantiated insistence that your selected stats are absolutely dispositive of the complex issue of which QB is performing better. That reflects either an extremely shallow understanding of football or an intense desire to slant the facts obfuscate the truth.

None of us know whether Lee or Jefferson would give us a better chance of winning now. We can know -- from the evidence of the games that have actually been played this year by this year's team -- that we have a very successful team with Lee as the QB that has shown a distinct ability to succeed at a sufficiently high level to win championships (both SEC and BCS). That does not guarantee such championships or even any particular level of future success. But the potential has actually been displayed by real results in real games with this year's team.

No such evidence exists for Jefferson due to some extremely unfortunate circumstances. So any fan speculation that he may or may not perform better than Lee is purely that -- speculation.

What is not speculation is that Lee has performed well enough for this team to put together an impressive body of work thus far this season.

There is a controversy about who the starting QB should be if the previous starting QB returns early enough in the season
No, there really isn't. Despite the insanely (and quite hilariously) inflated sense of self-importance held by many of the more prolific posters of this board, no amount of outrage amongst a population as useless, irrelevant, ignoble and ignorable as "The Rant" will ever amount to a "controversy".

"start"?

Uh, no. There was constant and unrelenting complaining from nearly everyone when Lee did lose games as a starter back in '08 (some of them have never stopped complaining). There's no question whether the rantards are willing to turn on Lee; they'd did it once, and those who have come back to his side will sure do it again at the drop of a pick-6.

What are you talking about? I'm all LSU 110% and want the best guy on the field at all times. If you read my post I said I hope JL wins every game he starts. It's pretty obvious LSU has been below average at the QB position in quite some time. So I for one don't get excited when we get just decent play out of one and have to rely on our running game and defense to keep bailing us out which seems to happen quite often.

THIS.

Last time I looked, JL has guided the Tigers to 3 Ws, 2 against ranked teams. If we get another W this weekend, that will make 3 out 4.

Miles would get run out of town faster than Paris Hilton at a Virgin's Convention if he switched horses and the horse came up lame.

Has JL looked like Superman? No
Has JJ ever looked like Superman? No

Give it a rest!

If pro set ain't workin vs some of the better Ds wer're to face, I'd think we might see some read with JJ, if he's back and ready.

If JJ got a raw deal it is because of JJ, noboty else. His whole downfall started when he, the "team leader" broke curfew, not when the fight started. He made that choice. JL is 3-0 and has earned the right to be the started and is the leader. Leave It Alone!!

Haven't read the whole thread, as opinions are, I'm sure, pretty split on the OP's original premise.

That said, I will admit that if JJ never sees the field again, and this offense continues to be good - not great - but good/adequate (I actually think it's been somwhere between good and really good) - I will always wonder what JJ would have looked like in the new system.

Jeezzzzzz, the he "broke curfew" BS again.

We have some here who must have lived a perfect life in their college days to be so ate up with a curfew violation as a "downfall".

This "last 3 games: comparison is such poor analysis. That is convenient cherry -picking based on Lee startng only 3 games, and JJ having his best 3 game series of his career. That makes such a comparison convenient, but not accurate or telling. Ole Miss and TAMU had poorly rated pass defenses, and everyone knows that.

Anyway, that is not what this thread is about anyway. This thread is about the team having momentum, Lee doing adequately and being a good game manager that is moving the offense, and about how JJ just needs to deal with the bad break and understand that this is how life works. It is not about him. It is about LSU. If it where about him, then Miles should return him to starter if he is cleared, but it is not about JJ. A bad break happened to Lee when he was injured and that was a good break for JJ to become the prime Qb. Now a bad break happened to JJ and Lee is the benefactor. Lee did not make it all about him for the last 2+ years, he handled himself with class and it is now paying off for him. If JJ wants to impress, then he should sit back and watch how Lee handled his bad breaks, and for that matter how Matt Flynn handled himself also when he got the bad break of being on the same team as the Russell, and just accept it and hope for the best. It is not about Lee and it is not about JJ, it is about LSU.
