This is my 3rd year in BR (junior year). I'm looking to do a little duck scouting and need some direction.
So the past 2 years I havent worried about hunting here. I'm from shreveport and we get 5 weeks off so I just hunt the second split around shreveport while I'm home for christmas. Problem is, my boat and 4wheeler are in shreveport and I dont have anyway to store them here so I'm looking for something I can just hike into.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for the gps coordinates to your honey hole. I hate cyber scouters as much as anyone. What I'm looking for is like which wma around here should I go scout? Or is there some other public land that is worth checking out on foot? I'm not afraid of a long hike in waders to get somewhere. I'd prefer to drive less than an hour from BR. I hate to sound lazy but really I put 95% of my scouting energy into places around shreveport that I scout year round. I'm not planning on hunting here much, maybe just get out a couple times so I don't need to invest a lot of time here.
Help a brother out here?

Try Sherburne WMA. I'm not to familiar with it, but that may be your best bet. They have maps on WLF website.

plenty of wood duck walk in spots at sherburne...not much else except the lottery that is usually slammed with people on tues and thurs. I suggest getting a kayak or pirogue and hunting some of the LAA

Sherburine / south farm which is on your side of the I-10 basin bridge, so not a far drive at all. It is a lottery so you could get sent home but if can get there during the week you have a good chance of getting picked, also bigger your group is better chance you have. Best part is game wardens will drop you off show you where to hunt then pick you up when done. Been a while since I've been out there but have had some good hunts.
