He did earn it by being prepared. It put him in a position to claim the spot. Absent the work and patience and fortitude he exhibited the situation would be grim.

Not tonight...it's too late to argue semantics on the interwebs.

I like the kid...I always have, especially when he was thrown under the bus by Miles and Crowton in 2008 and essentially forced to fail by what those nimrods asked of him at the time. Despite how we played, if there's any LSU fan the doesn't have a soft spot for the kid after going through all that then they ought to pick a new program for which to root.

That being said, LSU's starting QB was Jefferson barring the incident at the bar...period. Some clearly did not like that, but it doesn't change the fact that it's the truth. So in the traditional sense, what you suggested earned him the spot did not. It put him in the #2 position and it allowed him to slide up to #1 when the starter was suspended. But again...semantics.
