from B.R./New Orleans area. Is it pretty smooth driving up 59N? Many Troopers? etc...

6 hours from BR. Once you get north of Meridian, grab a Monster. And yes, always cops, especially the further north you get.

If you're leaving from BR, you shouldn't be on I-59. Take I-55 to Hwy 25 in Jackson. This coasts directly into Starkville.

DO NOT SPEED THROUGH CARTHAGE.

Or go I-55 to Winona and take Hwy 82 for about 45 mins into Starkville. It's a little longer but about the same time as the Hwy 25 route.

If you go through Meridian, HWY 45 is patrolled pretty heavily by HP.

it's a pretty good drive on very good roads, once you get out of Louisiana
