with a 16 team conference, why not a 14 game schedule?

With all the talk of having too many teams and not getting the chance to play many conference games, why not expand the regular season to 14 games with 10 conference games?
I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind playing a few more games. And the grown-ups wouldn't mind making some extra money.
Then the season would end about the second week of December, with the championship game around December 19.

the common argument against games in december is that they will be "interfering with exam week"; i dont buy it, but thats what you always hear thrown around.

NCAA would have to increase the schedule length for all teams
and that would mean potential 16 game schedules for national champions.. they won't do it
