I can't believe what I just read in the TP. Peter Finney is a well respected writer, but this article doesn't make sense. Lee is our starter and I support him 100%. Any thoughts?

LSU needs JJ to contend? What are they doing now?
Pete needed something to write about and lost his way.

Finney is getting really old-maybe he let Uncommon Cents write his column today.

JL didn't set the world on fire, but I saw an offense against a very highly ranked team that wasn't painful to watch. We have our QB so let's move on and quit spending time talking about the one that took himself off the field.

Whether we need JJ or not is a moot point now. BR is determined to prove they don't protect LSU football players. JJ is going to be tied up in an overly aggressive legal system in BR for a while.

I hope JJ gets fairly treated by the legal system. Time to move on with the players we have.

Can't say I agree with the article's basic premise. I think having JJ on the roster can help, but I think we can win if Lee plays at or near his best in most games.

On a side note, classy comments from the fans. JJ must love being from Louisiana.

I mention legs because Jefferson last season did more crucial damage with his legs than with his arm in quarterbacking Les Miles' ballclub to an 11-2 record.
Too bad this didn't stop during the summer. He might be playing.

I disagree that Mr. Jefferson will necessarily produce a better passing game. He has yet to do so. Boy, talk about controversy if he comes back...unless of course Mr. Lee is uninspiring.

Peter Finney is starting to wright like yesterdays News:
We all know. If Peyton Manning had fast legs he would be a bigger threat.
Finney should retire.

Why does the author ay we need jj's legs to help the running game from Saturday?

Why woo our two hundred yard rushers need a mediocre runner to take snaps and cartes away from them

Lee really didn't do that much on Saturday to separate himself from JJ. If JJ came back tomorrow Lee would likely be 2nd string again. But he won't and is likely done for the year and probably career. That said I dont think the outcome/score of the Oregon game would have been any different with JJ at QB.

Just one question. When JJ was starter did you support him 100%? If your answer is yes, then you are a true Tiger fan and all is good. If not you are just like so many others on here with the double standard betwee Lee and JJ. And that is the cancer that exists in Tiger fandom. Even Oregon fans detected and diagnosed the cancer.

He just wanted a little PR......me personally, I'd rather have ware/ford running the ball than JJ, and rather have lee throwing it than JJ...but heck, what do i know....seemed that concern of hurting our running game without jj didn't materialize saturday.....

What about it that doesn't make sense? The essense of the article is "Miles knows this. His best chance to win a national championship is with Jefferson taking snaps." Hasn't Miles named JJ the starter for 3 years straight including this year? Isn't that an indication he feels JJ is his best chance at winning a championship?

Now we know there are a number of Ranters who feel they know better than Miles, a $4+ mil a year coach in this instance and Saban, a $4+ mil a year coach in the JR/Flynn debate, both of who have won national championships. I put my money on the highly paid professionals, at the very top of their profession, whose jobs are dependant on their personnel decisions over a bunch of computer jocks with agendas.

What doesn't make sense about it?

I understand you disagree with the column, but just because you disagree with a column doesn't make it bad. His logic makes sense and he laid out he case for a running QB. The quality of a column is not judged by how much it reinforces an opinion you already hold.

We can do fine without JJ. The biggest thing I missed in the Oregon game was no QB running by JJ or some Wild Tiger by Russell Shepherd.

I just can't see what this guy's saying. I see us having a good running game this year, and having a running QB isn't what we need unless he can pass also. We need a passing QB and that's Lee. I just don't see JJ being the passing threat we need.

Lee did fine against Oregon and I support him and would rather not return to the JJ vs. Lee controversy.
