Without UTx, tamu will lose identity

These aggie clowns have spent so long trying to gain acceptance from 'big brother' that not having UTx will absolutely destroy an already bewildered fanbase.
Everything tamu does - cheers, songs, greetings, etc - is a lame attempt to one-up UTx.
If you need a little background on why I think tamu and its fans will be lost without UTx, read this thread:
Tell me about TX a&m

They are weird in some traditions but I am with them on saying frick UT. They will eventually fit in the SEC. Hell, look at Arkansas...

It's clear in just my 30 posts or so that LSU fans hate Arkansas. They should have blocked us in 1990...

Another misinformed post.
Texas has actually copied A&M far more than us them.
quote:
Hunnicutt wrote "Texas Fight" in response to the song used by their longtime rivals, Texas A&M University. One of the Aggie songs then was Farmers Fight, which consisted of the words "Farmers Fight" sung to Taps, a song played at many military funerals. Impressed by the song, Hunnicutt figured he would write "Texas Fight" also sung to Taps, but making the song more march-like and having "Texas" throughout instead of "Farmers."[1] In a letter written in 1952 by Colonel Hunnicutt, he says "I wrote 'Texas Fight'... in an attempt to counteract the songs and yells of the Texas Aggies, which were not too complimentary to our Student Body and some of which tended to ridicule 'The Eyes of Texas'."[4]
quote:
Harley Clark introduced the Hook 'em Horns sign in 1955. Clark was a member of the Tejas Club, Texas Cowboys, and head cheerleader at the university, a position that was elected by the student body. "It was second only in importance to the Texas governor," he jokes.[2] Clark got the idea for the hand-sign from his colleague Tom Butts and Henry Pitts, who had been casting shadows on the wall at the Texas Union.[3] In addition, the "gig 'em" thumbs up hand signal created by archrival Texas A&M University twenty five years earlier was growing in popularity across the state and a similar hand signal was desired by The University of Texas.[4]
quote:
Bevo - the school mascot, a live Texas longhorn steer present for football games and other special events. Bevo received his current name after a 13-0 football loss to Texas A&M.[83]
First two verses of their fight song "Texas Fight"
quote:
Texas Fight, Texas Fight, And it's goodbye to A&M.
Their marching band used to have a specific march for us.
quote:
"Mickey Mouse March" (played to make fun of the Texas A&M Aggies; the Longhorn Band discontinued this practice after the 1999 Aggie Bonfire collapse)
quote:
Hex Rally (sometimes Texas Hex) is a pep rally at The University of Texas at Austin that occurs in the week prior to the annual football game between the Texas Longhorns and their in-state rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies.[1]....Before the 1941 game, a group of students went to a fortune teller, Mozzelle "Madame Augusta" Hipple, for advice. The Aggies were undefeated that season and the Longhorns had not defeated A&M at Kyle Field in almost 18 years, going 10-7-1 from 1923 through 1940.[2] The fortune teller told the students to burn red candles, symbolizing challenge and opposition. University students, alumni and fans burned red candles for the entire week before the game. The Longhorns won the football game 23-0.
For several years, the University of Texas also attempted to hex the Aggies with a bonfire, similar in structure to the Aggie Bonfire. However, there was not sufficient lumber to build one as large, and student interest was lacking. UT Bonfire eventually died out in the mid-1980s. The physics department at the university decided to build an iron candle-like torch as a replacement, which is lit each year at the rally.[3]

A&M devotes a lot to the horns as well, but lets not pretend that the third longest rivalry in college football is one sided here. Since 1975, A&M is 19-18.

Since you referenced fricking wikipedia, I'm guessing you're a tamu grad.
Are you trying to convince me that everything - sports wise - tamu has done in modern history is NOT to one-up UTx?

Texas A&M is the first public institution of higher education in Texas, founded in 1876.
later ut was founded the next decade. there. end thread

Yeah, because referencing a Texas message board post as irrefutable evidence to prove your ridiculous claims is clearly superior to Wikipedia. Do you have to learn to be this stupid at Alabama, or is it just all the in-breeding?

Why pretend? There's no need, it's true. Don't talk about the longevity of the rivalry and then say this...
quote:
Since 1975,
That's bullshite.
"Our rivalry is awesome, longstanding, etc, but we only really care about 30% of it."
