i am down to those 2 and comparing prices....Dish is cheaper over all but Direct keeps drawing me in with more channels and free NFL this year...
any thoughts that might push me one way or the other?

I've got Direct and love it.

Either way you may be fricked for the game this weekend if TS Lee rolls through.

I've got Dish and love it. I used to have Direct and didn't hate it, but more than a few people I know have had absolute customer service nightmares with them.

They don't have all the sports packages do they? Or do they?

Dish, the only thing you don't get is NFL ticket with dish. Pricing is cheaper and get HD for life with Dish. You also get install free in up to 5 rooms with Dish. Had them both at one point or the other and have still have Dish

They have everything except Sunday Ticket.
Sign with DTV and it's free this year.

Ugh. I'm tying to forget that shite from earlier. It's actually a little embarassing the way they act up here.

Why do you need NFL ticket when you get NFL redzone?

Same here. Granted I don't really watch anything except MLB Network, occasionally ESPN, Fox Soccer for a couple games, and History/Bio/NatGeo if something I'm interested in is on (which is rare).
95% of the time I'm watching TV, I'm watching MLB Network or football/baseball.
I've had it for almost 2 years now and I've gone out once. That was only because I didn't tighten the dish down enough and a strong wind altered the position. Got it set back right and even through snow, sleet, and some heavy t-storms I haven't gone out yet.

I have dish and switching to Direct today. We were able to work and deal for two years and pay half plus get all of the sports packages and NFL ticket for free. I was going to lose NFL network, Vs, Speed, plus a bunch of other channels if we stayed.

Did not know this. I would die without my daily dose of Hazel Mae.

ahh Hazel
my parents have Dish. sucks visiting when there's a good slate of games on and I can't watch.
Dish does have HRTV though.

Direct sucks...but that is just my opinion...

I was going to post this exact question yesterday. My problem is I can only do an agreement for 1 year, and from my understanding most of DirecTV deals involve a 2 year agreement.
Or am I wrong? Does DISH need 2 year also?
I also looked at cox bundles and seemed like their prices were absolute garbage compared to the others. Also looked at UVERSE but don't think its offered at my address.

compared to what? you put Direct TV up against Cox Cable and I don't think anyone would say "Direct sucks" in that context.
