Not sure how many of you follow amateur golf, but many thought it was a mere formality that he would be named to the team.

He is no longer an amateur golfer. He is now a professional golfer so that could be why he was left off the team OR he went professional after being left off the team.

He competed in an amateur tourney last weekend.

He intentionally stayed an amateur throughout the summer and passed up on some paychecks in order to qualify for the team. One would think that a NCAA championship and top 16 finish at the US Amateur along with a runner up in a Nationwide event and his other accomplishments would have been worthy! He got screwed

Definitely got screwed. He kept his amateur status to wait until the team was announced. I feel sorry for our next PGA Tiger Tour star.

now he can move on and try to win cash for his talents. It won't be easy though. tons of talented young guys out there.

I heard he has been described as VERY arrogant.
It's the only thing I can think of which would have kept him off the team.

because of his comment about PGA tour depth? Please And there definitely aren't any arrogant golfers at his level (top level amateur with MNC) /sarcasm
Not exactly sure why he was left off but this definitely wasn't it

Kraft winning the Amateur likely cost him a spot. Cantlay was already on the team. I think if Cantlay won yesterday then Peterson would have gotten one of the last 3 spots
