I've backed up Jarrett Lee from day one, when the 18 year old kid was getting booed as he walked off the field with an ankle injury during the Ole Miss game. The guy was mentally wrecked, and now it’s his turn again. What a great ending to a story when just about any other player would have quit or transferred if they were in his shoes. It's only fitting to have Lee lead us to an undefeated season and a National Championship. Enough with talk about Mett. Let’s give Lee what he deserves

You had to start a new thread? You couldn't just put it in one of the other J Lee threads?

That would be kind of cool. I hope we do well this year but if we cant win it all I will pull for the Tigers to go to the dance and it would be great if that happened to JL.

Just for the record: In 2008 he threw 19 interceptions and 7 were a pick six. Lets hope for a better year.

I fully agree. I want Bama to win it all, but if they cant, watching Lee create an ending straight out of a movie for his career at LSU would be pretty sweet!

If I were Miles and the suspension on JJ was lifted I would try him at kicker just to frick with the media. I would let him kick off in a game against a shitty team and when the media asked me why I did it I would say that JJ had recently expressed an interest in kicking so I thought I would give him a try.

That would be a great story, but I don't think it's going to happen. While Lee is a great kid, he just hasn't shown the consistency required to be a starting QB in the SEC. He's had flashes of greatness, but it's never sustained. And when he got the chance to start, he didn't perform.

I agree that he should get the first start, but I think he should be on a very short leash. Mett has more upside than Lee, and should quickly be given a chance if Lee falters.

Dude Lee consistently bailed LSU's arse out last year. When LSU need a clutch pass, he delivered it. LSU does not beat UT, UF, or Bama without him. He did that consistently.

And when he got the chance to start he didn't perform? Dude he was an 18 year old freshman thrown on a field that makes even some of the most experienced seniors fold. In 09 he got thrown back on the field here in Tuscaloosa against one of the best defense we have had in recent memory, and he threw a pick to seal LSU fate. Then he had got to start next week against La Tech but tell me the butterflies weren't running rampant in his stomach having to face that stadium of purple and gold that booed him off the field hurt the last time he started on it, after he had once again thrown an INT to seal LSU fate for a second consecutive year against Alabama!

Lee always had the talent, that was evident from when he lead that comeback at AU in 2008. If he can get a groove going this season, I fear LSU more than if Jefferson was still yalls QB.

If Jason Campbell can mature his senior year anything is possible. JL has guts,he's had a rough ride at LSU. For no other reason than his personal fortitude he deserves our support.

No pressure there. In other words throw and interception and he is gone.

Thanks Coach

LSU has the most ardent fan-base in the SEC. Either we really like the player when they do well or we want to go full 180 and crucify the guy. Me, for example:

That bastard that tackled his own teammate in last season's Arky game that pretty much allowed the first half to end with a touchdown. I wanted to charter a private plane, fly up there, parachute out and go commando on that SOB.

It's called the SEC - this isn't little guy football anymore. The best player should be starting, regardless of seniority or loyalty. If that is Lee, then fine. But Mett should be given a chance if Lee isn't up to the job. If Mett isn't any better, then Lee can be brought back.
