to me he's more of a tommy bowden type. big time program in the south, more of a dad than coach, doesn't know too much Xs and Os but is an overseer who players sometime take advantage of because he's puts his arm around you rather than disciplines you. but hopefully LES can become half the coach that tommy was

His son Bobby sucked at Clemson.

I see him as a Joe Paterno type.

LES MILES is like nobody else. A year ago I had my beef's with the man. But for some strange reason that SOB has changed my mind. He beats to a different drum than any before him or now. Hopefully he can beat that drum to a National Championship this year. Go get'em LES. Eat some grass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not sure who he compares to...but all i know is that going into his 7th season..LSU is preseason #4 with a very very young team. That's pretty impressive.

Get back to me when the BCS rankings come out. He needs to earn his salary this year.

LSU went 11-2 and won the Cotton Bowl in impressive fashion with one of the worst offenses in college.
He's hired a new OC to address that problem...he's 5-1 in Bowl games and finished top 10 5 times.
How has he not earned his salary?

Barry Switzer.
Program seems to be going off the rails.
I anticipate one of these two players spilling the beans on the program after they are kicked off.

So if we're still in the Top 10 when the BCS comes out(week 6 or something) then you'll bow to him. Just thinking for him to do that after what has gone on so far before the season starts and the grueling schedule we have(3of4games against top25 on the road). That would be one hell of a coach.

Don't you bring logic into this

Nonsensical comments that almost make sense, willing to throw stars off the team, unreal winning percentage:
Lou Holtz
with a little Yogi Berra thrown in.

If we go to Atlanta or a BCS game, yes, he has earned his salary. But still not worthy of an $18.5 million buyout, no one is. Its the BCS rankings after game 12 that count.

I see him as a Godfather type of coach like Vito Corleone. Les had JJ and Josh make them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Cross between Vince Lombardi, Bear Bryant, Don Shula, Ground Chuck, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler (sp), Sean Peyton.
You know, all the great ones.
