WoW is an addicting grind that requires $ though, how could anything have a large playerbase than it?

because some people dont like to have to invest 1000s of hours to be able to compete and would rather start off on equal footing at the beginning of every game. games normally take about 45 minutes

all im saying is, the game was cutting edge back in 2005... 6 years later its still the same. Not their fault if sheeple keep throwing money at them though so they grind to Exalted to the next stupid fricking faction to gain +4 to Strength on a ring.

They changed the hell out of WoW. I quit playing because of the changes. That and I have a daughter now.

what made you quit?
i eventually quit back in WotlK. Had no desire to do any instances, grind any achivement, and had maxxed jewlcrafting and enchanting so i had over 10k gold/all the BOE epics i needed, and multiple epic flying mounts...

Wait, why is WoW the benchmark? Or are we talking about just in the United States? I'm pretty sure there are more played MMOs out there, Maplestory being one example.
