If they were innocent, why were all of the LSU players crying when questioned by the police? Sounds like they were coming to a realization of the consequences of their actions.

Either that or they know they shouldn't have fought and they are realizing the severity of this and how badly it could hurt them and their school.

Maybe the police told them that they wouldn't finish until later and that the players would be able to play football?

According to Nathan fisher, the mean old media and their camera were scaring them and making them cry.
