I know I don't have all of the facts....

and I'm not an attorney, but why did Nathan Fisher allow the players to talk to police?
I can't envision a scenario where the meeting is beneficial for our players.
The witnesses offered conflicting versions of the events at Shady's. Apparently there is no video that clearly shows the fight in the parking lot.
Again, what's the point of allowing them to talk? The case seems pretty thin, and the only possible way to bolster the case would be for our players to say something stupid.

Looks better, they are innocent, good liars, etc.
Any of these

Because it allows them to get their side of the case out. Also, when you have your attorney present, you can shape the interview. You can decide which questions you will or will not answer.

Admissions like that dont belong here. Ranters know all.

To sweep under the rug.

They didn't have to talk to police but I suspect everything they said was well scripted and with their attorney in the room to prevent them from going off script.

Well maybe....just maybe...some of the stuff that was going around wasn't exactly true. Maybe the players aren't as much in the wrong as everyone made it seem. And maybe the "victims" got caught in some lies.
Notice there is a ton of "maybes." that's because we don't know..and it appears that the media sources don't know much either.

Because all were prepared to exculpate themselves, each other and all players.
ETA: It's still risky as it exposes them to charges of lying to the police or obstruction of justice. It also puts their testimony "in a box". However, it is not the worst idea ever to allow your client to talk to the police, if it resolves the issue satisfactorily.

Enforcement of the law is based on both facts and circumstances. A smart attorney will not allow a client to divulge unfavorable facts and/or circumstances. However, when facts are not in dispute you want to introduce any additional favorable facts that may influence the decisions of those investigating the matter and/or those who will decide whether to prosecute.
In a he-said/she-said situation isn't it better to try to conclude matters early by providing information that allows the authorities to consider both sides rather than just the unfavorable version that will come from the other side?

so they can say they talked to the police, and are complying in a quick manner. Now the police will take 12 days to press charges and viola...Northwestern St. suspension.

I think it's pretty clear that if they wouldn't have spoken to the police voluntarily, they would have been arrested.

This. But would have never been convicted. By talking to the police there is a much better chance that they will not be arrested.
The players have a huge advantage bc they had time to get their stories straight, versus the other guys who talked to police right after the event, and now supposedly have holes in their story.

"I do not recall" works 99% of the time. My guess is this was a popular line.
