re: Stop it with all the "there will likely be no charges"

You seem to be one of the few level headed ones in this situation... I do disagree in one point, the hiring of counsel. If the accuser lists him as an attacker (whether or not it's actually true), I find it more than fair to lawyer up, especially with the accuser doing the same (which I find pretty fishy tbh).

Dude, you said in the other thread that you wanted them suspended even if charges are never brought. What's with the agenda?
And you really think that simply the hiring of counsel makes one guilty? Paul Baier would be ashamed.

Has ANYONE denied that the players in question were "involved" in the incident? If this is the only agenda you are pushing and no one is pushing back, why are you still posting?
Yes. Rosetta. How is this having an agenda?

You really are a transparent douchebag who has no idea whatsoever what you are talking about.
Transparent? I think you used the wrong adjective here, buddy.

You assumed that JJ was "involved", whenever in actuality his name was being brought up as "accused" of being involved and maybe even kicking someone in the head>
JJ was at the scene. He hasn't been formally accused of anything, ie charges brought against him. He was, by definition, involved in the situation.
quote:
It was known his name was out there friday. That, my friend is an accusation.
Really? Legally, I don't think so.
quote:
I never said the police accused him of anything, but the speculation prompted him to get legal counsel, not necessarily his involvement.
So if someone randoly speculates that you burgled a home, the first thing you do is hire counsel? If you legitimately had nothing to do with the situation, you don't establish your alibi with the police to help absolve you? Why do you immediately need counsel, especially if you havent been charged, or even named a suspect or person of interest?

Rickles,
You do not know FACT anymore than the rest of us do. We have no idea who was involved in fight and who was there and left. No one has proved who was involved yet. Wait for it to play out.

That's my side.

I don't have an agenda. I didn't say I wanted anything. I merely said that I think Miles undoubtledly suspends the players. Whether it be for a quarter, a half, or a game (or multiple). You really don't think that violating curfew alone warrants disciplinary action from Miles, much less putting themselves in such a terrible situation that has now brough a national negative light to the University?

Not at all. I'm just saying, as I posted above, there are other things that might be considered by an innocent party before immediately seeking counsel.

Well technically we know the four hospital attendees were involved...

Apples and oranges.

Because those were conditional upon the existence of the preceding text. Concerned in some affair is a precursor to said affair possibly also being dangerous or unpleasant.

Ok. Same situation then, if that's your tune.
You're at a bar. A fight goes down. You were standing some distance away, and while present at the scene, had no participation in any way whatsoever, but did observe it happen. Someone says to the police, after the fact, that you were participating in the fight. Your first thought is to hire an attorney to defend you? Or is it rather to first state your innocence when questioned and turn to others to corroborate the truth?

If I'm going in to talk to police at all I'm taking a lawyer whether or not I was involved, that's just me though.

How do you know "for a fact" JJ was involved in the fighting?
For that matter, please tell us just how you know "for a fact" that JJ was even there during the fighting or there at all. Are you basing you facts on media reports and "eye" witnesses that talked to TV reporters? Could they be lying or mistaken?
Really, just asking.
Because in reality, the only way you could know "for a fact" anything is if you were there. Were you?

And maybe I'm wrong, but growing up it wasn't always my actions that I was punsihed for, but sometimes for merely putting myself in a bad situation, that I could have otherwise controlled. I figure the same principal could apply here.
