We had a lease with him about 4 years ago and had a pretty bad year. We pretty much just sat and watched birds land in lamar and hoped a cripple would make it back to us.

Plenty of public places to pull good numbers. My best hunt hokes require leaving the house at 2am and hr boat ride.
That being said, certain areas certain times of year get really hot. Have to pattern them and bounce around

Rice fields in general just aren't what they use to be. I think a lot has to do with the new rice being planted and new farming practices and better equipment. That and the fact that there just isnt near as much grain farming going on south of I10 as there use to be. Through the 70-90s there were usually between 600k-800k acres of rice in the lower part of the state. I think this year it is down to 93k, not positive, ducks dont land in cane fields.

That's what I've been hearing.
I'm hoping to land a lease in north la next year. Got a lot of work to do to find a decent one though

On a good note, there is a store right by the bridge that has some of the best boudin balls you will ever put in your mouth

Sounds good, I am assuming you mean south of the interstate is the basin spillway area?
