IMO LSU might give up a couple of TD's in the 1st half but I think we figure that circus crap out and shut them out in the 2nd half... What exactly did Cal do so great that stopped up Oregon all game last season?? (I didn't get to watch that game)

so anyone got anything about what Cal actually did so great vs Oregon last year because whatever it was worked well, offense just couldn't put points up I'm guessing...

1.) Cal used a myriad of defensive fronts, alternating its number of down linemen on almost every play.
2.) In the secondary, the Bears had at least five defensive backs on the field for most plays. They used simple man-to-man coverage on almost every play.

good find
i think shifting your dline from 3 to 4 to 5 man fronts keeping the zone read blocking confused.. and we can delay blitz some with matheau which will help with the quick qb draws/scrambles

Good reads thanks guys... They also kept a spy on DT all game and force him to stay in the pocket.... Also the infamous injury timeouts... Good gameplan though!!

Why is getting players out of position in space and taking advantage of them considered Circus Crap?
Anyways, Cal had a good game plan and they made all of their tackles. Oregon is usually pretty good at breaking tackles or at least making the first guy missed.
Cal had arguable their best game as a defense and Oregon was not playing well. DT did not get hit much that game but his timing and throws were off. Chalk it up to just having a bad day. I think the biggest part is Cal was disciplined enough to stay in their positions and not try to make the superstar play.
