From tigger1, who apparently is an aficionado of all things related to ancient Tiger football. No, seriously...he is.:

The photograph shows LSU on the Tulane 3 yard line, on the drive LSU got to the 6inch line before giving the ball up.

I think I can find the play by play on this game given a little time AT.

Yes, Tigger is the man to go to for any info on the tigers from the 40's or older.

And yes, we lost to Tulane that day, 13-0.

What would a game program from the Billy Cannon runback game be worth?

Which players? My grandfather was on that team (I am assuming it is the 1951 Sugar Bowl when they got shellacked by one of the great Oklahoma teams).

LSU played in the 1950 Sugar Bowl (1949 season)

Yes, my mistake. My grandfather was the QB for that team. I also have some watches of his, but one in particular perplexes me. Could you help me identify it?

It is a 14K Gold watch made by Lucien Piccard for "Orange Bowl Classic", but it does not say what years. He was a coach for 3 Orange Bowls, but it looks older than 1974 or 1971. I think it is the 1962 Orange Bowl watch, but I don't know how to go about verifying that. Any help?

I have never seen the 62 watch, so I could not help you. Bud Johnson at Andonie Museum could easily help you, they probably have one. I have seen a '35 Sugar Bowl watch, 59, 60, 65, and 68 Suagr Bowl watches, both 63 & 66 Cotton Bowl watches, and the 62 Bluebonnett watch.

Your Orange bowl watch should have a date on the face or engraved on the back (I'm guessing)

Was there a watch for the '63 Cotton Bowl? I have a (lapel pin is the best I can describe it) from that game. I'd love to see if my uncle has the watch to match the set. Thanks for the insight.

Now that I think about it, yours is probably the 72 Orange Bowl. I was talking to Jack Jobert one day, and told me his 72 watch was 14kt gold, not gold filled. You can easily ask him. His phone number is on his web site. He lives near LSU.

It doesn't. Of all the Bowl pieces I have, the Orange Bowl stuff does not have dates. I have a Tie Pin that just says "Orange Bowl Classic, 74th Anniversary", and the watch, which just says "Orange Bowl Classic" on the face. No name or year on the back, which is odd, and what makes me think it is from '62.

Yes there was. I am actually in the works of possibly buy one of two that I know of, one belonged to Harry Rabenhorst. They had the Cotton Bowl logo on the face.

As for the dimensions of my photograph, I have not measured it, but I would guess about 14"x30" (if not longer)

This is the watch I am wondering about:

The '63 Cotton Bowl pin must have come from the school because it says "Champs" on it. This had to have been given out ofter the game (probably at the team banquet).

Man, that is awesome. You should set up a website to display photos of your LSU items.

Thanks for sharing -- That panorama is incredible.

Did you decide to buy the old Mike the Tiger cage? I remember a post a few months ago where you were considering it.
