Youth coaching... Sorry if too long.

My first cousin has just recently moved his family back from Costa Rica to Old Metairie. They were there for five years and his son is a really talented player. The family has good atheletic ability. Dad was an all-state basketball player and mom was a an all-metro volleyball player in NO. I posted before that they sent a 15 minute video to the newly formed NOLA/Chicago Fire Academy and as a nine year old he was accepted to the U-12 team. He just turned ten and today was the first practice.
The first practice was a scrimmage. Is this to test athleticism and desire? My cousin's kid is the smallest kid on the team and scored two goals and had an assist. When he saw his dad after practice he asked "Why doesn't anyone pass the ball"? The coaches are all English and Scottish.
My cousin knows zero about soccer and there were no Honduran/Mexican kids anywhere to be seen.
He is by far the most technically gifted player they have. I hope they focus more on what makes a player develope than trying to huff and puff English style. I am going to the pratice on Monday. I hope they don't scrimmage. Again, sorry for the length of the thread, but I thought it was worth a comment or two.

They run the association. My little cousin is really talented. My cousin knows nothing about soccer, but even he could tell his son was getting frustrated at the lack of team communication. His kid at one point just said frick it and dribbled past three guys and scored with his off-foot. He just turned ten and is playing against the best 12 year olds in NOLA.

Are they really the best kids? When I was playing soccer, the NOLA teams were full of Jesuit kids and Hondurans

I have seen the kid and I haven't ever seen a kid from NOLA with his technical ability.

Hopefully the kid is driven and disregards the fact that his teammates aren't on his level.

clubs, especially considering what the la fire is, have a metric frick-ton of teams at the younger age groups
i would take care of it this way:
1. observe his kid at practice
2. contact a coaching director
2a. state your concerns if they are valid
2b. see if he's playing at the highest level for that age group
2c. see if anything can be done
i would be shocked if the club was dominated by englishmen. i can tell you by looking at the staff list that there are plenty of coaches there that aren't english

If he's already playing at above his age group with a NOLA select team, I don't know how much they could really do. It seems like you need to get with his dad and show him some drills or something to advance him outside of practice.
