Capt called at 5:30 this morning and said it was too rough, seas 3'-5' and wind blowing about 20. Four kids and one dad disappointed and trying to come up with alternate plans.

That sucks. He couldn't take y'all inshore fishing? (Not sure if there is good inshore fishing there, just asking)

I'm certainly not second guessing him...I'm sure all five of us would be by now!
Raining now...winds gusting to 30-35.

Damn the weather must have really changed. When I left Orange beach Sunday the gulf was slick calm.

We were going with Capt Dan McPherson on the "Another Getaway", a 46' Hatteras. His website advertises he is very kid and beginner friendly.
He said they have been catching a lot of fish, both trolling and bottom fishing He said we would catch king and spanish mackarel, several varities of snappper, trigger fish, and if went went far enough out, amberjack season just opened. Red Snapper just closed, but we could catch and release as many as we wanted.
Good luck!

Wind started blowing yesterday, with some storms. It's still raining now, the gulf shore buoy reporting 30 - 35 mph gusts.
Supposed to start calming down tomorrow with 1'-2' seas this weekend.

Go play in the surf....3-5 ft seas will do nice things to bikinis!

That's happened to us before. We usually just rent a boat to do some inshore fishing or try the local pier if the weather is realy bad.
