Nevis impressing in Indy

There was a sequence when rookie DT Drake Nevis, the third-round pick out of LSU, could not be blocked. A relatively short 300-pound guy showed why he got drafted with some quick feet and fast hands. He beat his man on three rushes in a brief amount of time. One couldn’t have been more clean. I mean, snap, hand fight for a few seconds, he gets his man off balance and blows right by. You hear some noise from the guys watching.

But it’s never about who starts because they rotate the guys and split up the snaps. It’s about who makes plays. Maybe Nevis can do that. Not putting him in Canton, Ohio, just yet, but anything encouraging in this area is a plus.

he's too small, probably go late 6-7th or undrafted...

Nevis is a heck of an athlete, one of the best on last year's team. Can't remember if it was PP7 or someone else who said he could play in the secondary if we wanted to and still make plays. Definitely an exaggeration but shows you the kind of respect he had.

Hope he does well

He'll see some playing time for the colts this year. Wouldn't expect anything major out of him though. At least not yet.

Pouncy for Florida COULD NOT BLOCK HIM last year and he went in the first round.

Can we get Indy to sign Skyler Green as a free agent so they can have 3 players from Marrero!?

Nevis was a one year wonder at LSU. He came in and really didn't do anything until this year when he exploded. An Pouncy wasn't as good of a Center as his brother was.

he did play as a freshman in 07...i know we had some injuries that year but still pretty impressive.

A testament to Haley in my opinion. Hopefully, this will become a trend again and we can start pointing to guys in the NFL making early impressions like this on the recruiting trail.

He was dominant in that Florida game. It wasn't even fair for Pouncey

he led the DL in tackles, TFLs, and sacks in 09 without starting a game.

LSU or SEC or Nation? 2009 linemen weren't that great from what I remember. An what was his playing time? If he played starter time, but wasn't out there for the first snap...that doesn't mean anything.
