How did LSU go from Old Gold to the yellow they wear today?

I understand that old color televisions did a poor job with the traditional gold and the color was changed to the more 'distinctive' yellow??

Seems the purple has changed more recently. I like the yellow, want to say its canary yellow. But my pesonal opinion is it looks better than old gold. Thats just me.

The purple ain't what it used to be either,
Looks more bluish now. Also the little strips on the shoulders need to go back to full stripes.(spelling intentional)

Dont you guys know the history of how L.S.U. selected their colors? (The game vs Tulane Mardi Gras story) Tulane bought up all the green ribbon for their uniforms, leaving LSU with Purple and Gold. Mardi Gras colors are Green, Purple and the CANARY YELLOW hue of Gold. So L.S.U., was originally using the Canary Yellow ribbon to adorn their uniform, NOT Old Gold. (I think all the football uniforms back in those days were all Grey) Don't know when or why the official school color was changed to Old Gold, but the first use by L.S.U. on a uniform was the Mardi Gras Canary Yellow/Gold color.
