The worst = Marcus Randall. Man, I couldn't wait for him to graduate.

I've never seen this. Nice find - thanks for sharing.

I remember Brain Sparicino starting a game for an injured Herb Tyler, and that was a rough night.
As for best, Jamarcuss may not have been the best or won a championship, but I loved watching him zip the ball downfield.

He came in for Herb in the bama game in which Shaun Alexander raped us brutally.
We sat in front of his mom and dad for that game.
Mom was near in tears, dad was just proud seeing his son on the field.

Man we had some really bad qb's back in the 90's. I am suprised to see that Lee (according to these statistics) had better numbers than Randall.

Should have been a Safety. The "favor" of him playing QB cost him a great college and potentially a Pro career. He did throw the Bluegrass miracle though, so give him that due.

If you are looking at best and worst starting qb i.e. one who started more than a game or two due to injury I would take Hodson as the best and JJ as the worst.
If you mean just played qb not necessarily a starter I would have to give worst to Sparacino closely followed by Melvin Hill!

Russell was such a freak. Had he stayed his senior year, he would have absolutely destroyed every LSU passing record.

As bad as he was, I was so excited to see Cody Clausen finally get in the game. I'd never thought I'd say it, but three plays later I was praying for Randall to come back in.
Best in my lifetime - Jamarcus Russell
Worst - Marcus Randall
Most Beloved - Rohan Davey

Who would have been our QB in '02 when Mauck went down if not for Randall? And Jamarcus was clearly not ready to take the reigns full time in '04. I'm not sure how putting in the 2nd stringer consists of a "favor" to him. But I do know who I'm replying to, so...
I do agree that he might have had a pro career at safety, but playing him at QB was not some sort of philanthropic move by Saban. Terrible as he was at times, we needed him both of those years.

Who can blame you for forgetting his name?

If memory serves me right, he had a great run versus Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Randall was the only option we had that yr after Mauck went down. He wasn't SEC caliber but as already posted, he pulled out some memorable wins. Great tiger - always proud of how he carried himself despite being put in a situation like that.
Come to think of it, the mighty Saban doesn't get enough criticism for not having better QBs behind Mauck those couple of yrs. Miles gets ripped to pieces for making similar mistakes.
The Rick Clausen thing would have been a lot funnier had he not exacted revenge on us as a vol a couple yrs later. I think I'm going to be sick again.

Don't know why so many fans are down on Randall. He had some great performances (and to be fair some shitty ones) I'll never forget the perfect pass to Early Doucet right before halftime against Florida in 2004, we don't win that game if he didn't make that throw.
I do think he should have been used as a running QB more. He had great speed for a QB.
