I'd had a fly rod for a couple of years and had fished with it a couple of times. Last month I went to load up my truck to catch a few bream and I found that my fly rod was snapped about a foot and a half below the tip. No other rods were damaged. No big deal, I just buy another one. I fish with it once and then Friday night when I am getting my stuff ready again, I notice that my new fly rod is snaped at about the same place.

So, the obvious question is . . .

Which Academy do I return it?

Geez, stop letting your wife use the fly rod to get the cob webs off the ceiling fans.

ETA: and tell those damn kids they can climb the tree if they want their frisbee back!

You seem to be suggesting that my wife cleans, which is untrue.

Oh, I have no idea. It was just the first thing I thought of when I found it broke a second time.

What gets me is that no other rod was broken.

That sucks though, seriously. Guy I work with fly fishes all the time. I'm thinking about asking can I tag along and learn. I've never had any experience with something like that.

IF you can hit them right, catching bream and bass (and even an occassional catfish) on a fly is very exciting.

If it's not just right, you can whip the water all day and hardly catch anything.

More fun than that because you don't have as much help from the reel. Plus, the presentation is all you.

The thing about the fly rod is that it isn't about forcing the line. It's about letting the rod do all the work. (TWSS)

I got your joke.

Chad was an arse that day. He seems to be AWOL since he last posted about having a new baby in the house.

I had a fly rod which broke 4 or 5 years ago. I called the manufacturer (did not tell them I broke it with teh screen porch door) and they sent me a new one, for free. Give that a try.
