I think most people in NOLA agree that the Hornets is a stupid, stupid, stupid name and logo for a team in New Orleans. I ve heard we would never get the Jazz name back. What would you name the team? Would you change the team colors?
ETA these suggestions........
The Bourbon
The Creoles
The Nonexistants
The Jazzz
The Grenades
The Brass
The Voodoo
The Quintet
The Zydeco
The Streetcars
The Funk
The Pilots
The Shotguns
The Night
The Bucs
The Zulu
The Breakers
The Gators
The Krewe
The Drunks
The Revelers
The Sterns
The Sinners
The Ninjas
The Black and Gold
The fluer-de-lis
The Real Jazz
The Bowl Movements
City Slickers
The Team
Loup Garou
Bourbon St. Bouncers
The Hustlas
Seafood
Andouille
Gumbo
Rhythm
Poboys
The Yats
Catahoula
Nightlifes
Tarpon
Diaspora
Police
Mormans
Patrol
Blue Hounds
Crescent City Classic

Nah they've been here in one form or another for almost a decade now.
I agree that a switch would have made sense early on, but after almost 10 years they've won playoff games, they were one win away from the WCF a few years ago, they've drafted Chris Paul and David West here, every kid in the 504 and 985 area codes know who Hugo the Hornet is, etc.
It's too late to change. "Creole Blue" is here to stay...
Charlotte Hornets mascot 'Hugo' leads the players onto the court in front of a very small crowd before the start of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New Jersey Nets at the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., Thursday May 9, 2002. I think the New Orleans Creoles would be a great name.

I agree that Hornets is a horrible name for the team. The Jazz was/is perfect, but...well...ya know.
I can't really think of any great names other than the first three, two of which happened to be named after hockey and arena football teams.
-New Orleans Krewe
-New Orleans Brass?
-New Orleans Voodoo?
-New Orleans Quintet?
-New Orleans Zydeco?
-New Orleans Streetcars? Thinking about the Dodgers on that one...
-New Orleans Funk?
-New Orleans Pilots? Thinking about a riverboat pilot...
-New Orleans Shotguns? Shotgun style housing? I can't see the city or the NBA liking that one

I think Brass is by far the best name. It could easily be black and gold. We could follow the city color scheme like they do in Seattle and Pitt.

The baseball team should be the New Orleans Knights. Yellow-gold and navy blue as the colors.
