really interesting that Royce got this role. i got to meet him several times when I was a kid. really nice guy. he could swipe some bags in his early days
got me thinking about all those journeymen MLB players that wont' be a HOFer but had a sustained, solid career. who else you got?
Royce Clayton
Chris Speier
Tony Taylor

Matt Stairs is one of my favorites

Kevin Youkillis won't make it into the HoF but he's as good a player as there's been in the MLB for the last 5 years.

Randy Velarde comes to mind, though I'm not sure he qualifies as a journeyman.

guy used to absolutely crush the ball in Oakland.
interesting tidbit about him:
quote:
Stairs didn't have 500 plate appearances until age 29, at which point he recorded 100 RBI seasons and an adjusted OPS of over 130 two years in a row- and never saw 500 at-bats again.

Oh cmon, I know he's not Pujols good, but 4 straight seasons of over .900 OPS isn't too shabby.

and how does he compare to Royce Clayton, Tim Spiers, and Randy Velarde?
Posted on 7/15/11 at 7:16 pm to Lester Earl
I didn't really like Randy Velarde though.

you dont have to
juts funny to see a bunch of utility guys mentioned then Boston-tard throws out Kevin Youkilis. 3 time AS, gold glove winner. Finished top 6 in MVP twice.

Somebody said good players that wouldn't get into the HoF, so I mentioned one right here. Same with Justin Mornuea (sp).

Kevin Mitchell doesn't belong in this thread either given that he won an MVP.
