I have read on here that Whole Foods and Maxwell's occasionally have prime steaks in stock. Is anywhere else around town recommended for getting some prime cuts?

Both locations, or is there a particular one you frequent?

Yep. I get prime strips from Calandro's on government all the time. Good stuff.

As noted previously Calandros', additionally Maxwells' and Fresh Market should have it too.

I think the majority of what they have is choice, but I'm not sure

Fresh Market does not have "Prime." They carry "Premium Choice" which is the top 10% of "Choice" beef. Very Good quality meat.

If I don't get "Prime" from Calandro's on Siegen/Perkins...I get "Premium Choice" from Fresh Market. You can't go wrong with either one.

Another trick is to look at the "Choice" at Calandro's...sometimes it is graded "choice" but you can look at it and tell it is closer to "Prime" due to the marbling.

My bad...I was thinking of individual steaks...not whole loin's.

Dont remember exactly how much it was but they had a good deal if you bought the whole loin. I dont remember how delicious it was but I'm sure it was good.

Calandro's also has good prices on the prime the day before the sell-by date.

Calandro's has whole prime tenderloins 12.99lb and prime ribeyes for 10.99 in their ad. Is this a good price for prime?

Have never figured out the fascination with Prime Tenderloin, since there really isn't any marbling in a tenderloin to speak of. I would stick with Ribeye and NY Strip for my prime meats.

I paid 12.99 at Fresh Market for their choice ribeyes last week, so 10.99 for prime seems legit in comparison
