cant tell you the right measurements, but my mom lets the sugar and water marinate over night, then she adds the lemons the next day.

i think this is what canes does.

The best recipe is one that I cannot remember the proportions to as it is over thirty years ago that I last made it. A mixture of honey, water, boiled together as the liquid, sweetening element, with the addition of mint extract at the end. This solution is added to the juice pf one lemon or lime in 8oz glass with ice. Get it right, and your mouth will thank you.

Here's the recipe I use:

1 3/4 cup white sugar
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups lemon juice

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and one cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled. Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups of water.

^ This recipe is legit.

Agreed (even though I get a little heavy on the lemon juice).

I also use the same recipe for my limeade, substituting the lime juice for the lemon juice.
