their payroll is big because they PAY for whoever they want
wont even get into players like Dice K, JD Drew, or Mike Cameron that they attempted to sign to improve the team.

LOL at Lackey, but yea, they sign free agents. Just like every other big team in the MLB. I won't argue that they have a big payroll.
My point is they develop players. Pedroia, Youk, Ellsbury, Pap, Lester, Lowrey, ect..
Who have the yanks developed other than the big 4?
