Transformers:Dark of the Moon Review Thread SPOILERS

Disclaimer: This is a summer popcorn movie so it is judged as so. Terrence Malick didn't direct this for a reason.
I don't have very good movie memory so I don't remember a lot of specifics from part 2 but I do remember the basics. Incomprehensible action scenes, too much time for silly parents, rapbots, John Tuturro, and pretty much zilch for a storyline.
Right off I'll give Bay full credit for fixing all of the above. Tuturro still had screen time but he seemed more bearable this time for some reason(maybe it was my affinity for Alan Tudyk from Firefly). The story was actually pretty decent. Good enough for a summer flick. The parents showed up two quick times and no rapbots. Although they did have replacements but they didn't take up much time and were a slight improvement anyway.
The action? Holy shite. The talk of it being slowed down due to the 3D filming was very true. Bay slowed it down, Matrix style, a few times but the regular motion scenes were much easier to follow and the 3D was great.
Two gripes. Frances McDormand and Malkovich's characters were extremely cheesy. Malkovich didn't stick around long so that wasn't a big deal but McDormands "I'm not a maam!" hack character was really a waste of her talents.
I can confirm that the last hour was full of badass. Action and storywise. Going into that last hour, Chicago has been decimated, the Decpticons are hours from making humanity their slaves, and the humans/Autobots have to sneak into the city to take the battle to the badguys.
After leaving this one, I really do believe Bay ended on a high note.
Now that I've seen part 3, I really think Bay should've made part 2 and 3 back to back(which he basically did) and had them continue into each other. Part two would've started where 3 did but would've ended with the Decpticons taking Chicago and maybe a few other cities as part 2 ended, Empire Strikes Back style, with humanity and the Autobots decimated and miserably outmanned. Part 3 begins months later and the humans/Autobots have mounted a resistance and 3 would've taken off from there.
What I'm saying is that the last hour was great and would've loved to seen that drawn out more.
BTW, I'm clearly no writer and never wrote a review before so take it easy on me.
Oh yeah and Megan Fox's replacement? Very hot opening scene(dat arse...) but Fox still is hotter.
ETA: If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 7 out of 10 for its genre

Saw it last night. Best of the 3 and doesn't compare to the crapfest that was 2. Loved the action slowed down. I could actually follow what was happening. For some reason the new girl didn't really do it for me.

Spoiler here
Thought it was funny at the beginning when watching star trek the little robot says "I've seen this one, it's the one where Spock goes nuts" and then Leonard Nimoy does the voice of sentinel prime.
I give it a 8/10 on my summer movie rating, it would be lower if I rated as a normal movie though.

Great body but the way her cheek bones are angled, it looks like she was making a duck face 90% of the time.

I saw it last night. It was better than the second but I hated how it seemed to drag on slowly. Maybe Im just ADD but it didn't keep my attention very well.

I'm going to see it in an hour in IMAX 3D, think that'll be good?

I was not aware that she had a head. Guess I just never saw it.

hell yes
Avatar is still the king of 3D but this was one of the best I've seen since then.

I saw 300 at this same theatre in regular IMAX, and I got a little chub when the arrows were coming down

Overall, I enjoyed the movie, and I agree that it is MUCH better than the second.
My problems with the movie:
SPOILERS
1) Ironhide dying, ESPECIALLY being killed by Sentinel's rust cannon.
2) I thought Shockwave served no purpose in the movie. It was said that he would be the main villain, but I didn't get that impression at all. IMO, the main villain was Sentinel Prime. Other than the fact that he lived underneath Chernobyl, we don't know anything about Shockwave. Is he a Decepticon leader? Where does he fit in with Megatron and Sentinel? It seemed like he was just forced into the movie just to satisfy people who wanted to see him make an appearance.
I've heard that there will probably be a Transformers 4, but Michael Bay and Shia Lebeouf are done. Since Cybertron is destroyed and ALL of the Decepticons are dead (at least the relevant ones), I'm not sure what else they could do unless they bring in Unicron.

Yes! I was pumped about Shockwave and he was badass but I wanted to see him more. I wanted to see more of Soundwave too. Hell, that's mostly where my idea about how part 2/3 could've been better came from.
The Decpticons are always way more powerful but then they're put down too quickly in my opinion. What they did to Chicago was actually believable and I wish that idea would've been expanded on.

Yeah. Shockwave and his Tremors-bot. Laserbeak actually had a lot of screentime.

Watching Tuturro in Transformer movies is like watching your dad suck dick at gunpoint. Just really sad

I thought Laserbeak was great, and it was nice to seem him with dialogue, since he didn't actually talk in the original cartoon.
But if you had told me beforehand that he would have more dialogue than Shockwave, I would have said GTFO.

What the frick are you talking about? This is a poorly edited "film". Actually, I'm not sure it was edited at all. And why do they brin back the parents, John tuturro, tyree and fergie's twink? This isn't a character driven flick and none of these characters served any purpose in the film...maybe tyree
If you thought this was a good anything, you have shitty taste in movies. I could write 25 pages on why this one sucked. What sucks is, that had they edited 45 minutes, they had a pretty entertaining movie...it just got lost in all of the crap

Not sure why someone would go to a movie they know they arent going to like. Seems like some of these posters go to a movie just to come back and bitch about it.

Nope girlfriend wanted to go see it, and like I said, there is an entertaining flick lost in that clusterfrick of poor editing.
To the OP: did i offend you by not liking transformers? It's a really lame jab, but still...over transformers?

Really..
I love when people come in a thread and get heavy on somebody that doesn't deserve it and then put on the "golly gee Mr. I didn't do anything wrong" act.
Read your post and at least be a man and own up to the fact that you were a dick.
