1. Easier to use.
2. Easier to maintain.
3. Ammo/gun is cheaper
4. Easier to handle.
5. Can be shot in more places due to low caliber.
6. Quieter
7. .22 is better for learning long gun basics than anything.
1. load pull trigger reapeat. Jams happen in both.
2. 10\22 does require some good cleaning at times
3. 10\22 is cheaper but $$ is not an issue here on how a firearm works
4. easier? both light both low recoil
5. shot in more places? Most people go to a range. I doubt shooting cb caps in a neighborhood with a 22 to learn is a safe idea
6. what does quieter have to do with it
7. 22 is good if it is a single shot as a beginner tool as a child. But as an adult after about an hour I think you would want to move on.

1. Less components, that's why it's easier
2. see number 1
3. It's an issue if someone's never owned a long gun before and isn't sure if they should blow a grand on one.
4. See number 1 again. Also, would you trust a child with an AR? How about a 10/22?
5. You must not go to a lot of different ranges. Some only allow rifles in .22 or just no rifles at all. Plus, you can shoot it in your back yard if you're in a rural area and not disturb neighbors. You can't do that with an AR.
6. Don't have to wear ear plugs, also contributes to number 5.
7. Not true, I still shoot my 10/22. It's just fun. Plus, 1-6 all contribute to it making a better gun to learn on.
