Some people forget the rift his last-minute commitment switch caused bw LSU and TX A&M.

Despite his off the field issues, chronic knee trouble, and the blowout of his knee he still managed 7 seasons in the NFL (longer than the life span of an average NFL RB).

He was from Hempstead and backed out of his commitment to a&m at the last minute. there was one game in the series where he tore the Aggies a new a**hole.

If I remember correctly, he played 3 of those years as a TE. Had he not been so tall, his carreer would have ended in 1995.

I don't remember Havey Williams having any off the field issues when he was at LSU. He really wasn't the same after the bad knee injury.. I know he had a short NFL career with Kansas City & Oakland. Not sure what he is doing now..

He caught grief for announcing that he was going to LSU university. Or I think that was him.

He heard someone singing the A&M fight song right before his decision that turned him off and he went with da tigas as the story goes!

That is the correct story, he had never committed before the announcement, but everyone believed he would sign with A&M, and even LSU's assistant coach (can't remember his name) I believe was even present, and he was 'shocked' that HW actually picked LSU. The way I look at it, made up for LSU losing Johnny Hector to A&M in 1980.
