Quarterback Erik Ainge has a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder, leaving his immediate future in the league in doubt. Ainge, who spent the entire 2010 season on the reserve/did not report list due to drug and alcohol issues, relayed the injury news on his official Twitter page Thursday night.

“Found out i have a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder today, no fun, o well, could always be worse, im sober and loved, all that matters,” Ainge tweeted.

Ainge, who turns 25 on Sunday, hasn't taken a regular-season snap in his career. He was suspended for four games without pay in 2008 for violating the league's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

The Jets have three other quarterbacks (Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell and Kevin O’Connell) under contract for 2011. Gang Green also signed Drew Willy to a reserve/future contract and drafted Greg McElroy in this year’s draft.

Why is that unfortunate? You are a bad person if you don't want to see a stand-up guy get a chance to succeed.

I'm sorry GMac plowed your GF, but this hate on the man is getting out of hand. He is not at 'Bama anymore. What happens to him now is of no consequence to you.

Sorry man, but that is very fortunate for him. McElroy was a great representative of Alabama, and I wish him nothing but the best, including a spot on the Jets roster. I hope he beats Sanchez too, I can't stand him.

And, unfortunately for the rest of us, your stank face is still drawing breath.

You suck.

You blow.

Eat shite.

Smith isn't gone yet, they want to resign him.

The rule changes to kickoffs makes him less valuable, which gives the Jets a better chance to retain him.

The plan was to make him the future #2, but it went astray with the drug problems and now the injury.

McElroy better worry about O'Connell, the Jets traded back for him after cutting him in camp, they like what they see...

This is true but the Jets do have a ton of guys to try and re-sign.

Anyone hating on McElroy that is an Ala fan is a loser. The guy gave us everything he had. The end.

It depends on the outcome of the lockout and whether or not the Franchise tag will be removed. No franchise tag would mean David Harris would be a free agent, but it would also mean some top OLBs would be too.

I fully expect Edwards to be back, but I don't know about Holmes.

If there is one player I want to see succeed at the pro level that was under valued, it's GM. Intelligent good all around person. Hope it works out for him.

I understand that you didn't think he was a very good QB at Alabama. But can you verbalize any intelligible reason why you don't want him to succeed elsewhere?
