The problem is not with the mature deer. You have to realize that the Does are dropping fawns this time of year and when they drop them and have to flee to higher ground the fawns cant always make it. The does will end up leaving the fawns which will result in them dieing. Also, dont be surprise if there is no deer season in much of the state next season.

This is true,but will help the deer due to the fact they will have to compete for food once they move outside the spillway.

Yeah, I don't think so. Doesn't the basin have a late rut? The gestation period of deer is about seven months. Assuming breeding is done in mid-December, the fawns will be born in mid-July. Even if the area has an early November rut, there should be no fawns born yet.

Does in that are are some of the latest rutting deer in the us

So that their fawns come after spring floods
