I hear the hunting at the Wax is out of this world but that the conditions are challenging, particularly when those marine fogs set in.

Yep. It is especially bad when the weather is on the warmer side and the dew point and temp intersect. There have been times I couldn't see 10 feet in front of the boat. The first time I navigated by GPS only (using former tracks and stopping by the intracoastal to listen for tugs) but then I realized how stupid that was. You couldn't see the birds anyway. Since then, I've driven from BR to Calumet twice only to turn around because of fog.
