My mistake. I was talking to the guy who said this
quote:

Hell, I'd say a lot of the kids at the LHSAA State track meet last weekend are better than half of this competition. It's amazing some of these teams are running/throwing kids with these numbers.

I thought you were the one who said that and were actively defending that point. Rereading your posts, what you said is true. It just isn't a knock against the SEC like the other poster in this thread said.

Jeff Demps, Marek Nitt, Gabrielle Mvumvere, Dentarius Locke, Jonathan Juin, Harry Adams, Michael Granger, Keenen Brock, Terrel Wilks.

Which of those guys is Sylve faster than? They all(except Demps and Mvumvere) ran as fast as his fastest time of the year in the SEC meet with only a 3.0 wind. His 10.18 was ran in a prelim with a 3.9 win. And it's not like he consistently runs 10.2....10.4 is far more common out of him....That's not to say he's not a college level sprinter. Just defending the sprinting powerhouse that is the SEC.

BTW. Sylve ran a wind aided 10.18 FAT a few weeks ago in a Texas. Are you going to sit there and argue that someone running a sub 10.2, wind aided or not, could not compete in the SEC?

So to answer your question, yes. Although it is conceivable, albeit unlikely, that a 10.18 in a 3.9 wind could get into the finals of an SEC meet, I will sit here and argue that Brandon Silve, a person who has ran sub 10.2, could not score points in the SEC meet.

Of course there can always be upsets. He can run even faster, 2 of the favorites can false start. But based on what we know, he wouldn't be projected to score points.
