Didn't realize many players were making less than $50,000.

I'd be really interested in seeing the average salary per year since the league started. On a quick skim, I counted 7 players who made more than a million dollars a year. I wonder if that is the most in the league's history?

It has been steadily increasing since the league's inception. Especially in the last few years. That much is obvious, at least.

Also I think a lot of those guys in the $30's are generation Adidas and are still in school.

How does the average MLS salary compare to the average Mexican league salary.
The more we're willing to pay the more talent we can bring in. The goal should be to have the highest average salary in the Americas.

Is Pete Vaginas (spelling intentional) making $80K or whatever the hell he was last year?
There's always a few eye openers in there.

I think the league should do away with the DP rule, and just add that amount to the overall salary cap.
Take NY for example. They have approximately 12 million dollars in salary expenses. 10 Million of that is tied up in Henry and Marquez. The "cap" is only slightly over 2.5 million. Just raise the cap to 12-13 million, so teams have the option of building a franchise without over paying for past their prime super stars.
I imagine a competent GM could build a pretty solid unit with 12 million to spend across the whole roster.

Lulz-tastic salaries:
Salou Ibrahim makes more than Agudelo, Ream and Lindpere.

I'd be on the phone with my agent ASAP.

The whole point of the DP rule is to allow teams to spend money on marquee players, but without sacrificing parity.
If the Salary cap were raised to 12 million, a team could go out and get 5 or 6 Landon Donovans and destroy the league, while a team like Columbus wouldn't be able to compete financially.
The DP rule is fantastic for MLS. Now the salary cap needs to be raised about a million bucks just because it can be afforded, and it'd be a nice bump in quality and in appearance.

Justin Mapp is worth the money compared to the other guys on the list.

i counted, i've heard of 55 players in the league... most are from old threads hoping for future team USA guys who usually never sniff the Nats.
others are guys i've seen watching two or three games a year involving MLS. i imagine if new orleans got a team that 55 would increase exponentially
