What's going to happen to the wildlife if they open the Morganza spillway? I'm wondering more about the tens of thousands of deer and the thousand or so bears that make the spillway their home. It's not like they can just head to higher ground. I'm thinking that their could be hogs, deer, bear, etc. running wild all over Port Barre, Arnaudville, Lottie, and those places. Anyone have any insight on this?

Huge area. Not sure how deep the water will actually be once it's able to spread out. Deer are used to this. they will move.

Get a gun and go sit outside. Report back later.

It'll probably be similar to this levee...

They'll find higher ground somewhere, but unfortunately some will die. A lot of deer just gave birth, so a lot of the fawns probably won't make it. The water will come pretty slow, giving the wildlife a good bit of time to GTFO.

You'll probably see a lot of dead deer on the side of the roads nearby.

Here's a pretty cool picture of the locks opened. I have a camp at Old River so I'm used to seeing one side flooded, but not the other...
