FWIW, the OP said tomato-BASED. Tossing a few chopped tomatos is not tomato-based as far as I'm concerned. That's an added ingredient. Base, in my mind, means the shite like I posted. And clearly it means that to Google as well

The ficking food network is really confusing people. I was out of state about a month ago and out with a few people and the subject of gumbo came up. One of the guys asked one of the others if he new the difference between a cajun and a creole gumbo. He said the creole gumbo had seafood.
