Wal Mart Meat

I am curious. Who in their right mind still purchases meat from Wal Mart? I can't imagine buying "fresh meat" from a store with no butcher shop and serving it to my loved ones.

They have trucks that are refrigerated that take it from one place to another.
You act as if it is salted down and halled on a chuckwagon.
I would imagine it is ten times safer to eat from a place that processes nothing but beef, chicken, pork..etc....than it is the local shop where there is everything from rooter to tooter from every animal hitting the same board.

I've had a much better experience over the years with Wal-Mart, as opposed to Winn Dixie. I won't even touch WD meat anymore.

Trucks, yes. This meat is prepackaged weeks before it hits your basket. Water and other injections have to be used to keep it as fresh as possible while it travels from the plant, to the distribution center, to the store, to the shelf, and to your basket.

Source?
Not defending wal-mart in any way, but all meat products sold in the US are inspected and must meet safety requirements. I'm reasonably certain that weeks of processing time doesn't fit in the USDA requirements for meat sales.

The weird thing is, Sam's Club meat is great, while walmart is bad. You would think they would use the same supplier.

I bet Alton Brown had something to do with it.

JJ arranged the whole thing. Applebees would be top 10 if not for JJ.

Poor people have to buy their meat there, it's pretty sad.

Most meat is aged twenty six days before you get a chance to buy it. Fresh meat from a cow just killed is very tough and almost inedible. Also if it says USDA Prime,It don`t matter what store it comes from.

Me neither, but then again, I refuse to shop at Walmart unless my back is against the wall and I need coffee and nobody else is open, then I hold my breath and make it a quick in and out as fast as I can.
