Had my first Johnny's Pizza

Was in Monroe for work and picked up a sweep the kitchen.
Verdict: it was a good pizza. Nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed it and would order it again if they had a location in New Orleans.

I'm a Fleur De Lis fan myself.

Prayers sent. You should holler at Marshall and see if he can hook you up with a new vehicle while you're up there.

It's not the same. You will smell like the place for a month. But I had one several months ago for the first time in years. I'll have another one. In a few years.
But Johnny's blows.

You are now on the NELA Sicilian's hitlist...you have been warned.
If your car blows up, don't come on here complaining

There's lots of Johnny's Pizza hate on the Food Board. I'm from the Nola area originally so I've never had the pleasure of going there to eat.

here is the deal with Johnny's Pizza:
the first one opened in Monroe back in 1967 and soon expanded to Shreveport. now, it is pretty obvious that north Louisiana isn't traditional a place known for it's pizza. growing up in Shreveport in the 80s i can tell you that Johnny's was hands down the best pizza around. there was nowhere that even came close. not that that means it is necessarily a fantastic pizza, just that relative to the other options it stood out.
you couple that with the nostalgia of north LA folks who grew up eating Johnny's and their overt praise for the place (remember, a lot of people up here have never had much pizza outside of this area) and you get folks from New Orleans and Baton Rouge who have for a long time had access to multiple solid pizza joints and you get a group of people who get pissed when a place gets a lot of, what they see as, undeserved praise and attention.

I had one tonight. It was great and the beer mugs were ice cold.

There's one at Highland and Staring

Hhh yeah that's where it is! Any good? I don't really know of anyone that's eaten there.......

I haven't had any from that location, but I always enjoy Johnny's when I go back home to Shreveport/Bossier.

I grew up eating it and to me it's like those that grew up with Johnny's. It's ok but I had my first cold beer there with my dad and it was his old hangout so I've got a place in my heart for it even though when Junior died and his daughter took it over it turned into Chuck E Cheese. I do go every couple years just for old times sake and I do enjoy the pizza and yes my clothes smelled like the place and my truck smelled like it for a month.
And if you see me in the obits tomorrow get those North Louisiana dago's for me.

Yes there is. It's on Highland near Staring in a shopping center. I've had the lunch buffet there but something seems off or different compared to the Shreveport Preston Street location. It's still decent pizza, but the BR location didn't seem just right.

I used to live in the Champion Lake apartments and would grab a pizza every few weeks from that Johnnys. It was great with my student discount card from college.

Johnnys is the best pizza hands down!!

Never had Johnny's or Fleur De Lis.
Always got ridiculously varying views so I never knew if it was worth going or not.
